Mark Shail - Managing Director
Managing Director since 2003, Mark brings over 40 years of high-level engineering and commercial expertise to Chiller Technical Solutions. Starting his career as an aircraft engineering apprentice in 1979, Mark progressed through senior leadership roles at British Aerospace and as a European Sales & Marketing Manager for a major US corporation. For the past 23 years, he has led Chiller TS with a focus on building a resilient, people-first company founded on technical excellence and long-term client trust.

Apprenticeship (1979)

I began my career as an aircraft engineering apprentice, a million years ago back in 1979.

Developing a strong technical foundation, discipline, and respect for the engineering excellence.

Commercial Manager British Aerospace

Progressing into commercial leadership, I served as a commercial manager at British aerospace, where I strengthened my expertise in contracts negotiation, and business management.

European Sales & Marketing Manager

I later became European sales and marketing manager for a leading American corporation driving growth and market expansion across Europe and traveling extensively.

Managing Director (2003 – Present )

For 23 years, I have led Chiller Technical Solutions Ltd as a Director, entering the air conditioning sector without industry knowledge.

I made it my priority to surround myself with exceptional technical and operational professionals I firmly believe the company’s sustained success over its 25 years history is a direct result of its people – strong, cohesive teams and the longevity and experienced of dedicated staff. And my thanks and gratitude goes to everyone of them, past and present.

I am particularly proud that together we have built a strong, resilient and sustainable company with a solid reputation , long term client relationships and culture founded on trust, accountability and continuous improvement.

Grant Shail - Operations Director
Operations Director with 14 years of hands-on experience, Grant has progressed from an apprentice to board-level leadership within Chiller Technical Solutions. Having joined the company in 2010, Grant spent over a decade as a qualified Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer, gaining deep technical expertise in installation, maintenance, and diagnostics. Today, he oversees daily operations and strategic planning, using his extensive field experience to lead our engineering teams and ensure the highest standards of service delivery.

My journey with Chiller Technical Solutions Ltd began in June 2010, when I started as an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprentice. From day one, I was immersed in hands-on learning, gaining practical experience across installation, maintenance, and fault-finding within a fast-paced and technically demanding environment.

Apprenticeship (2010-2012)

During my two-year apprenticeship, I developed a strong technical foundation in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, I built the skills, discipline, and attention to detail that are essential within the HVAC industry.

In 2012, I successfully qualified as a fully trained Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer – a milestone that marked the beginning of the next phase of my career.

Qualified Engineer (2012-2021)

After qualifying, I continued to grow within the company, taking on increased responsibility across a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. My role involved:

Installation and commissioning of air conditioning and refrigeration systems
Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
Reactive breakdown response and diagnostics
Building strong working relationships with clients

These years strengthened not only my technical expertise but also my communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Transition to an Internal Role (2021-2024)

In 2021, I transitioned into an internal role within the business. This move allowed me to apply my hands-on field experience in a new capacity, supporting operations from within the company. My practical background provides valuable insight into project planning, coordination, and service delivery, ensuring engineers in the field are fully supported and clients continue to receive exceptional service.

Operations Director (2024 – Present)

In 2024, I was appointed Operations Director — a proud milestone reflecting 14 years of growth within the company.

In this role, I oversee daily operations, strategic planning, and service delivery across the business. My responsibilities include:

Leading operational strategy and performance
Managing engineering teams and internal departments
Driving efficiency, compliance, and quality standards
Supporting business growth and long-term development

Having progressed from apprentice to board-level leadership, my journey represents dedication, continuous development, and a deep-rooted understanding of the business at every level.
